Essential Functions:
- Compile and validate credit package data, including financial spreads, cash flow, collateral valuation, appraisals, and supporting due diligence.
- Independently analyze and underwrite commercial credit requests across C&I, CRE, and business banking segments.
- Evaluate borrower performance and repayment capacity, including cash flow adequacy, collateral support, industry conditions, and management quality.
- Identify primary risks, mitigants, and policy exceptions.
- Partner with Relationship Managers to ensure deal structuring is sound and credit packages are complete
- Prepare concise, risk-focused credit summaries and presentations of creditworthiness, including clear strengths, weaknesses, and key drivers.
- Present and support recommendations to approval authorities and committees, including joint presentations with the Relationship Manager when needed.
- Manage a pipeline of credits across varying size and complexity with consistent turnaround and disciplined execution.
- Ensure requests are processed in accordance with bank policy, banking regulations, and applicable laws.
- Support modernization initiatives in credit workflow, tools, and help scale best practices across the team.
- Senior most level may function as a lead and be responsible for second level approvals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field and 4+ year commercial, commercial real estate credit or business banking underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices and procedures or other directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial, commercial RE and/or business banking credit underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of Business Banking, C&I and CRE loan requirements with the ability to identify risk and mitigating factors related to conducting a thorough credit analysis for approval.
- Extensive working knowledge of balance sheets, income, and cash flow statements.
- Strong understanding of commercial and/or business banking lending policies and procedures and general banking laws and regulations.
- Ability to analysis and research financial statements, business plans, credit reports, debt ratios and loan to value information.
- Possess strong judgment and ability to make sound decisions.
- Ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.
- Must have strong customer relations and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be a self-starter, dependable, accurate in completing responsibilities with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Extensive working knowledge of various related software applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of 95,000 – $130,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience and location.
