Position Summary
The Director of Business Banking is responsible for the leadership, growth, profitability, and overall performance of the Business Banking teams.
This role drives client acquisition which leads to deposit and lending growth, market share expansion, and client relationship management while ensuring sound credit practices, including SBA lending. The Director develops and executes strategic growth initiatives, coaches and develops team members, and partners across the organization to achieve business objectives and deliver exceptional client experiences.
Essential Functions
- Provides leadership and strategic direction for the Business Banking teams.
- Responsible for the overall profitability, loan and deposit growth, lending production, and operational performance of the Business Banking division.
- Establishes, directs, and coordinates sales performance standards, production goals, and business development activities.
- Leads the development and execution of strategic growth plans designed to increase market share, expand client relationships, and achieve business line objectives.
- Creates and fosters a high-performance sales culture focused on business development, relationship management, and client retention.
- Coaches, develops, and mentors Business Banking Officers to maximize performance and professional growth.
- Responsible for achieving business line production, revenue, profitability, and budget goals.
- Oversees business lending activities, including conventional and SBA lending, ensuring sound credit quality, risk management, and compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Directs and coordinates credit activities, loan approvals, portfolio management, and the resolution of complex credit issues.
- Maintains expert knowledge of lending policies, credit underwriting, loan structuring, SBA lending programs, and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
- Leads efforts to attract new business, cultivate referral sources, and expand relationships with existing clients.
- Participates in joint calling activities and strategic client meetings to support business development and revenue growth.
- Develops and maintains strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to deliver comprehensive financial solutions and exceptional client service.
- Oversees strategic market planning and execution within assigned markets.
- Represents the bank within the community and builds relationships with key business, civic, and professional organizations.
- Monitors performance metrics, prepares management reports, and implements initiatives to improve results.
- Ensures effective revenue generation, expense management, and budget control.
- Handles escalated client, operational, and credit-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive banking, business banking, credit, or related financial services experience, including leadership experience.
- Proven success leading sales and relationship management teams and achieving business growth objectives.
- Extensive knowledge of business banking, credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, portfolio management, and SBA lending.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of banking products, services, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Experience developing and executing strategic business development and market growth initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, drive profitability, and achieve production goals.
- Strong business development, community relations, and networking skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence outcomes across all levels of the organization.
Compensation
This position offers a base salary range of $200,000 to $240,000 annually, commensurate with job-related factors such as experience and geographic location, and includes eligibility for an incentive plan. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, expertise, location, education, and certifications.
